Ingredients
  

For the Sandwiches

  • 8 slices slices of bread A hearty sourdough or classic white works well.
  • 8 slices Swiss cheese Cheddar or Gruyere can be used as alternatives.
  • 8 slices ham Deli ham or leftover holiday ham are great options.

For the Sauce

  • 1/2 cup Dijon mustard Swap with honey mustard for sweetness.
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise Greek yogurt can be used for a healthier option.
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter To make the top golden and crispy.
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder Fresh garlic is a delicious substitute.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Lay four slices of bread on a clean surface and spread Dijon mustard on each slice. Layer two slices of ham and two slices of Swiss cheese on each.
  • Place the remaining four slices of bread on top to create the sandwiches.
  • In a small bowl, combine mayonnaise and garlic powder, stirring until smooth. Spread this mixture generously on the tops of each sandwich.
  • Brush the melted butter on top of each sandwich.

Baking

  • Place the sandwiches on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes, or until the bread is golden brown and the cheese is gooey.
  • Let cool for a minute, then slice the sandwiches in half diagonally.

Notes

These sandwiches can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days. To reheat, pop back in the oven at 350°F (175°C) for about 10 minutes.
