Ingredients

For the Marinade

  • 1 cup BBQ sauce Your favorite brand or homemade; choose one with a sweet or tangy profile.
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced Adds aromatic depth.
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil For searing; can be substituted with vegetable oil.
  • 1 teaspoon paprika Sweet or smoked for smokiness.
  • to taste Salt and pepper To season the marinade.

For the Chicken

  • 4 pieces boneless, skinless chicken thighs Tender and juicy; can substitute with chicken breasts.

Instructions

Preparation

  • In a bowl, mix the BBQ sauce, minced garlic, paprika, and a pinch of salt and pepper. Reserve a few tablespoons of the sauce for basting later.
  • Place the chicken thighs in a zip-top bag or a shallow dish. Pour the marinade over the chicken, ensuring it’s well-coated. Let it marinate in the fridge for at least 30 minutes (or overnight for deeper flavor).

Cooking

  • Preheat your grill to medium-high heat. If you don’t have a grill, use a stovetop skillet.
  • Remove chicken from the marinade and brush off excess sauce. Drizzle olive oil on the grill or skillet. Place the chicken and let it sear for about 7-8 minutes, until grill marks form.
  • Carefully flip the chicken and baste with reserved BBQ sauce. Grill for another 7-8 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (75°C).
  • Once done, transfer the chicken to a plate and let it rest for 5 minutes.
  • Slice the chicken and serve with your favorite sides, drizzled with extra BBQ sauce if desired.

Notes

For added flavor, incorporate diced jalapeños into the marinade. Fresh herbs like rosemary or thyme can also enhance the taste. Pair with sides like potato salad or coleslaw for a complete meal.
