Main Ingredients

  • 8 oz pasta Choose your favorite type—spaghetti, fettuccine, or penne.
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced Fresh garlic adds depth and a robust flavor.
  • 2 tbsp olive oil This will be the base for your sauce.
  • 1 cup heavy cream For a luscious and creamy texture.
  • 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese The star of the dish, providing a salty and nutty flavor.
  • Salt and pepper to taste Essential seasonings to enhance your dish.
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (optional) For a pop of color and freshness.
  • Red pepper flakes (optional) If you enjoy a touch of heat, these will do the trick.

Instructions

Cooking Pasta

  • In a large pot of salted boiling water, cook the pasta according to package instructions until al dente. Reserve a cup of pasta water and drain the rest.

Sautéing Garlic

  • In a sizable skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté for about 1-2 minutes, until it’s golden and fragrant.

Making the Sauce

  • Reduce the heat to low and pour in the heavy cream, stirring gently to combine. Bring it to a simmer – you’ll notice the sauce thickening within minutes.

Incorporating Cheese

  • Gradually add the grated Parmesan cheese, stirring continuously until it melts smoothly into the sauce.

Combining Pasta and Sauce

  • Add the cooked pasta to the skillet. Toss everything together, ensuring the pasta is fully coated in that luscious, cheesy goodness. If needed, add a bit of the reserved pasta water to reach your desired consistency.

Final Seasoning and Serving

  • Season generously with salt and pepper and sprinkle with fresh parsley or red pepper flakes if you like. Enjoy your comforting bowl of Cheesy Garlic Pasta!

Notes

You can swap heavy cream for Greek yogurt or half-and-half for a lighter option. If you're not a fan of Parmesan, try Pecorino Romano for a sharper taste. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
