  • 2-3 tablespoons honey or maple syrup Sweeten to taste; maple adds a delightful twist.
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract For a cozy, bakery-like aroma.

Preparation

  • In a small saucepan, combine the milk, chai tea, cinnamon stick, ginger slices, and cardamom pods.
  • Heat over medium heat until the mixture starts to simmer (about 5-7 minutes).
  • Once simmering, reduce the heat and let it steep for another 5 minutes.
  • Remove from heat and strain the mixture into your favorite mug using a fine sieve to catch the spices.
  • Stir in honey or maple syrup and vanilla extract, adjusting sweetness to taste.
  • Top with whipped cream if desired, and sprinkle with a pinch of cinnamon.

Notes

You can customize the sweetness and make it vegan by replacing honey with agave syrup. For an adult version, add spiced rum.
