  • 1 cup Long Grain Rice Provides a perfect texture that soaks up all the flavors.
  • 2 cups Chicken Broth For a healthier option, use low-sodium broth.
  • 2 tablespoons Butter Olive oil can be a light substitute.
  • 1 Onion, diced Shallots could work as an alternate.
  • 1 Green Bell Pepper, diced Red or yellow peppers can be used for a sweeter note.
  • 1 stalk Celery, diced Omit if you’re not a fan.
  • 2 cloves Garlic, minced Garlic powder will also do.
  • 2 tablespoons Cajun Seasoning Adjust based on your spice preference.
  • Salt and Pepper to taste Essential for enhancing flavors.

Preparation

  • In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the diced onion, green bell pepper, celery, and garlic. Sauté for about 5 minutes until softened.
  • Stir in the rice, letting it toast for about 2-3 minutes to absorb the flavors of the sautéed veggies.
  • Carefully add the chicken broth and bring the mixture to a gentle boil.
  • Mix in the Cajun seasoning, salt, and pepper. Give it a good stir to combine all the flavors.
  • Reduce the heat to low, cover, and let it simmer for about 18-20 minutes until the rice has absorbed all the liquid and is fluffy.
  • Once cooked, remove the skillet from the heat. Fluff the rice with a fork, and it’s ready to enjoy!

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 4 days or freeze for up to 2 months. Reheat in a skillet on low heat, adding a splash of broth or water.
