Preparation

  • Preheat the Oven: Set your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • Prepare Your Potatoes: Peel and slice the potatoes thinly—about 1/8-inch thick.
  • Make the Cream Mixture: In a bowl, combine heavy cream with minced garlic, salt, pepper, and herbs. Whisk until well blended, and then set aside.
  • Grease Your Dish: Rub a baking dish with butter.

Assembly and Baking

  • Layer It Up: Begin layering the potatoes in the dish, slightly overlapping each slice. After each layer, sprinkle some cheese and pour a bit of the cream mixture over.
  • Repeat until you’ve used all your potatoes, finishing with cheese on top.
  • Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake for 45 minutes.
  • Remove the foil and allow it to bake for an additional 15 minutes, or until bubbly and golden brown.
  • Cool and Serve: Let it sit for a few minutes before serving.

Notes
