Ingredients

For the Sauce

  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter (or olive oil)
  • 1 cup mushrooms, sliced (cremini, button, or a mix for extra flavor)
  • 2 cloves garlic, finely minced A hint of garlic boosts the dish’s heartiness.
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream For that luscious creaminess—try half and half for lighter fare.
  • 1/4 cup beef broth (or vegetable broth for a vegetarian twist)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh parsley, chopped For a beautiful, vibrant garnish.

Instructions

Preparation

  • In a medium saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter until it begins to bubble, releasing a nutty aroma.
  • Add the sliced mushrooms to the pan, stirring occasionally. Cook them for about 5-7 minutes, until they’re browned and tender.
  • Stir in the minced garlic for an additional minute.
  • Pour in the heavy cream and beef broth, stirring well. Bring the mixture to a gentle simmer, allowing it to bubble and thicken for about 3-5 minutes.
  • Taste the sauce and season with salt and pepper, adjusting to your preference.
  • Stir in the chopped parsley and serve warm over steak.

Notes

For variations, consider adding fresh herbs, parmesan cheese, or a pinch of red pepper flakes. The sauce can be made ahead of time and reheated gently, and it can also be made vegan by substituting ingredients.
