  • 15 oz Ricotta Cheese Opt for part-skim for a lighter version.
  • 2 cups Shredded Mozzarella Cheese For topping.
  • 1/2 cup Grated Parmesan Cheese For a nutty finish.
  • 1 large Egg Binds the ricotta mixture.
  • Spices (basil, oregano, garlic powder, salt) Fresh or dried for enhanced richness.

Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • In a large skillet, cook the ground beef over medium heat until browned. Drain any excess fat.
  • Stir in the marinara sauce and let it simmer for about 5 minutes.
  • In a bowl, combine ricotta cheese, egg, half of the mozzarella, and spices. Mix until smooth and creamy.

Assembly

  • In a greased baking dish, layer the meat sauce, lasagna noodles, ricotta mixture, and more sauce. Repeat until all ingredients are used, finishing with noodles and sauce on top.
  • Sprinkle the remaining mozzarella and Parmesan cheese over the top.

Baking

  • Cover with foil and bake for 25 minutes.
  • Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes until bubbly and golden.
  • Let the lasagna rest for 10-15 minutes before serving.

Notes

Consider adding sautéed mushrooms, spinach, or bell peppers to the meat sauce for extra nutrition. For a dairy-free version, use dairy-free cheese or blended tofu. A splash of red wine can enhance the sauce's flavors beautifully.
