Preparation

  • Chop the cabbage, slice the onion, and mince the garlic.

Cooking

  • In a large skillet, heat the olive oil or butter over medium heat until shimmering.
  • Add the sliced onion and sauté for about 3-4 minutes until translucent.
  • Toss in the chopped cabbage and stir to coat with the oil.
  • Sprinkle salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes over the cabbage.
  • Sauté until the cabbage softens and slightly caramelizes, about 10-12 minutes.
  • Add the minced garlic and cook for an additional 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
  • Taste and adjust seasonings as needed.
  • Transfer the fried cabbage to a serving dish and garnish with fresh herbs if desired.
