  • 1 pound large strawberries, washed and thoroughly dried Ripe, firm berries hold a better shape.
  • 8 ounces semisweet chocolate, chopped (or chocolate chips) Melts into a glossy, rich coating.
  • 4 ounces white chocolate, chopped (or white chocolate chips) For the football laces.
  • 1 teaspoon coconut oil or neutral oil Helps chocolate melt smooth and gives a shine.

Optional Toppings

  • crushed nuts, sprinkles, or a pinch of flaky sea salt For finishing.

Preparation

  • Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and set aside. Ensure strawberries are completely dry.
  • Melt the semisweet chocolate with half the oil in a heatproof bowl over simmering water or in the microwave until smooth.
  • Hold each strawberry by the stem, dip into melted chocolate, and let excess drip back. Set on parchment.
  • Chill for 5 to 10 minutes in the refrigerator to slightly set the chocolate.
  • Melt the white chocolate with the remaining oil using the same method, then transfer to a piping bag.
  • Pipe a horizontal line and three vertical stitches on each chocolate-covered strawberry to mimic football laces.
  • Let the strawberries set completely at room temperature or cool in the fridge for another 10–15 minutes.

Notes

Store in a single layer in the refrigerator for up to 48 hours. Do not stack to prevent smearing. Dip the strawberries up to 6 hours in advance and add the white-chocolate laces an hour before serving for freshness.
