Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x13-inch pan with butter, then line with parchment.
  • In a medium saucepan over low heat, melt the butter. Remove from heat and stir in sugar until glossy.
  • Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in vanilla.
  • Sift in the cocoa powder, flour, and salt. Fold gently until just combined.
  • Stir in chocolate chips, saving a handful to sprinkle on top.

Baking

  • Pour the batter into the prepared pan and scatter the reserved chocolate chips on top.
  • Bake for 25 to 30 minutes, until the center wobbles slightly when shaken.
  • Cool completely before slicing into squares.
  • Optional: Decorate with icing for football laces.
