Ingredients

For the Steak

  • 2 pieces Steak (ribeye, sirloin, or filet mignon) Choose your favorite cut; look for marbling for enhanced flavor.
  • 1 teaspoon Salt Essential seasoning.
  • 1 teaspoon Black Pepper Essential seasoning.
  • 4 tablespoons Butter Consider using unsalted for more control over seasoning.
  • 4 cloves Garlic Fresh garlic is a must; it caramelizes beautifully.
  • 2 tablespoons Fresh Parsley Chopped, can substitute or add other fresh herbs.
  • 2 sprigs Fresh Thyme Fresh herbs enhance the flavor; feel free to use others.
  • 1 squeeze Lemon Optional for a touch of acidity.

Instructions

Preparation

  • Remove your steak from the fridge and let it come to room temperature for about 30 minutes. Pat it dry with paper towels and season generously with salt and pepper on both sides.
  • In a large skillet, preferably cast iron, melt 2 tablespoons of butter over medium-high heat.

Cooking

  • Place your seasoned steak in the hot skillet. Cook for about 4-5 minutes on one side without moving it, then flip the steak using tongs.
  • After flipping, add minced garlic, your remaining butter, and the fresh herbs to the pan. Sizzle until fragrant.
  • Continuously spoon the melted butter and herb-garlic mixture over the steak for another 4-5 minutes for medium-rare.
  • Once cooked to your preference, remove the steak from the pan and let it rest on a cutting board for at least 5 minutes.

Serving

  • Slice against the grain and drizzle with the herb-garlic butter from the pan. Serve and enjoy.

Notes

For best results, reheat leftovers in a skillet over low heat to maintain juiciness. You can also freeze cooked steak for up to 3 months.
