Main Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef Choose lean beef for a healthier option.
  • 1 small head cabbage, chopped You can swap it for kale or even Swiss chard.
  • 1 medium onion, chopped Shallots can also be nice here.
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced Fresh garlic adds a fragrant kick; garlic powder works if you’re in a pinch.
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil Feel free to use butter for a richer taste.
  • Salt and pepper Enhance with crushed red pepper for a spicy twist.
  • Soy sauce or Worcestershire sauce (optional) A drizzle adds depth and umami if desired.

Cooking Instructions

  • In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat.
  • Add the chopped onion to the skillet. Cook until softened and translucent, about 3–4 minutes. Stir in the minced garlic and continue to sauté for another minute.
  • Increase the heat to medium-high and add in the ground beef. Use a spatula to break it apart, letting it sear and brown, which should take about 5–7 minutes. Season with salt and pepper.
  • Once the beef is browned, stir in the chopped cabbage.
  • Drizzle in soy sauce or Worcestershire sauce, if using. Give everything a good stir and let it cook for another 5–7 minutes until the cabbage is tender but still has a little crunch.
  • Taste and adjust seasoning as needed. Serve hot, sharing the love and warmth at your table!
