Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 12 rolls slider rolls (Hawaiian or dinner rolls) Soft, slightly sweet, perfect for pulling apart.
  • 1 pound thinly sliced ham Honey ham or smoked ham both work beautifully.
  • 12 slices Swiss cheese Or gruyere, cheddar, provolone, melts into creamy ribbons.
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted For brushing and that golden finish.
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard Adds a tangy backbone.
  • 1 tablespoon whole-grain mustard or poppy seed dressing Optional, for texture and visual pop.
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce Deepens flavor without overpowering.
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder Gentle savory lift.
  • 1 tablespoon poppy seeds Optional, for a classic pull-apart slider look.
  • Freshly ground black pepper To taste.

Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x13-inch baking dish or line it with foil for easy cleanup.
  • Slice the slider rolls horizontally in one clean cut so you have top and bottom halves ready.
  • In a small bowl, whisk together melted butter, Dijon mustard, Worcestershire sauce, onion powder, and a pinch of black pepper. Brush the bottom half of the rolls with about half of the mixture.

Assembly

  • Lay the bottom half of the rolls in the baking dish, then neatly stack ham slices across the roll base, followed by the cheese.
  • Place the top halves of the rolls back on, then brush the remaining butter-mustard mix over the tops. Sprinkle poppy seeds if using.

Baking

  • Cover the dish with foil and bake for 12 minutes. Remove foil and bake another 3–6 minutes until tops are glossy and edges are golden.
  • Let the sliders rest for 2–3 minutes, then slice between rolls and serve hot.

Notes

Make-ahead: Assemble the sliders in the baking dish, cover tightly, and refrigerate up to 24 hours—bake when guests arrive. Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days. They can be reheated by wrapping in foil and warming in a 325°F oven for 10–12 minutes.
