Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 4 pieces Chicken Thighs (bone-in, skin-on) Juicy and flavorful, these cook beautifully in the slow cooker.
  • 1/4 cup Honey Adds a naturally sweet touch; maple syrup works for a vegan alternative.
  • 1/4 cup Soy Sauce Rich umami flavor; tamari or coconut aminos are great gluten-free alternatives.
  • 4 cloves Garlic (minced) Invigorating and aromatic.
  • 1 tablespoon Ginger (fresh, grated) Adds a zesty zing; ground ginger can be used in a pinch.
  • 1 tablespoon Cornstarch For thickening the sauce, optional.
  • 2 tablespoons Sesame seeds (optional) Toasted, for garnish.

Instructions

Preparation

  • Pat the chicken thighs dry with paper towels to achieve crispy skin.
  • In a small bowl, whisk together honey, soy sauce, minced garlic, and grated ginger.
  • Place the chicken thighs at the bottom of the slow cooker, then pour the honey garlic mixture over the top, ensuring every piece is well-coated.

Cooking

  • Cover and cook on low for 6–8 hours, or on high for 3–4 hours until the chicken is tender and pulls apart easily.
  • For a thicker sauce, mix cornstarch with a bit of water, stir it into the slow cooker for the last 30 minutes on high.

Serving

  • Serve the chicken thighs with fluffy rice or mashed potatoes, drizzled with the sweet garlic sauce.
  • Garnish with toasted sesame seeds if desired.

Notes

For variations, add red pepper flakes for spice, toss in fresh herbs, or include vegetable add-ins. Leftovers can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days or frozen for up to 3 months.
