Ingredients

For the Apple Mixture

  • 3 large apples (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp for the best flavor) Choose a mix of tart and sweet apples for contrast.
  • 1/4 cup honey Local honey adds a wonderful depth of flavor.
  • 2 tablespoons butter (unsalted) For richness.
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon Adds warmth and depth.
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg Optional, for a cozy twist.
  • 1 medium juice of lemon To brighten and enhance flavors.
  • 1 pinch salt To balance the sweetness.

Instructions

Preparation

  • Start by washing the apples thoroughly. Cut them into thin slices, about 1/4 inch thick. Remove the core and toss the slices in a bowl with lemon juice to prevent browning.

Cooking

  • In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium heat.
  • Once melted, add the apple slices to the skillet and stir gently to coat them in the butter.
  • Drizzle the honey over the apples, tossing everything together gently.
  • Sprinkle the cinnamon and nutmeg (if using) over the mixture, then add a pinch of salt, stirring again to evenly distribute the spices.
  • Let the apples cook for about 8-10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until tender and caramelized.
  • Remove from heat and serve warm, optionally with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.
