Ingredients

Pasta Ingredients

  • 8 oz Spaghetti Whole wheat or gluten-free options work well too!

Flavor Ingredients

  • 6 cloves Garlic, minced Fresh garlic is crucial for depth; it releases its flavor beautifully when sautéed.
  • 1/4 cup Olive Oil Extra virgin olive oil adds richness; feel free to substitute with avocado oil if preferred.
  • 1/2 tsp Crushed Red Pepper Flakes For a touch of heat; adjust according to your spice tolerance.
  • 1/4 cup Fresh Parsley, chopped This brightens up the dish; you can swap in basil or arugula for variety.
  • to taste Salt and Black Pepper Essential for seasoning; try sea salt for a gourmet touch.
  • to serve Parmesan Cheese, optional A sprinkle adds a creamy finish; consider a dairy-free alternative for a healthier option.

Instructions

Preparation

  • Begin by mincing the garlic and chopping the parsley. You want the garlic to release its flavor, so chopping it finely is key.

Cooking Pasta

  • In a large pot, place the spaghetti and cover it with water. Add a generous pinch of salt, then bring it to a boil. Stir occasionally to prevent sticking.
  • Once the spaghetti is cooked al dente (about 8-10 minutes), use tongs to transfer it directly from the pot to a large bowl, reserving about 1 cup of the pasta water.

Sautéing

  • In the same pot, add the olive oil and minced garlic. Sauté over medium heat until the garlic turns golden and fragrant—watch closely to avoid burning!

Combining Ingredients

  • Add the cooked spaghetti back into the pot with the garlic and oil. Mix well, and here’s where you add a bit of the reserved pasta water if it seems dry.

Seasoning

  • Toss in the crushed red pepper flakes, salt, and black pepper to taste. You’ll notice the flavors melding together.

Serving

  • Stir in the chopped parsley, allowing its freshness to brighten the dish. Serve immediately with a sprinkle of Parmesan cheese if desired.

Notes

Add sautéed spinach, cherry tomatoes, or zucchini for added nutrition and color. Mix in cooked chicken or shrimp for a protein-rich option. Incorporate fresh basil or a squeeze of lemon in summer for a refreshing taste.
