  • 1 medium head cabbage, shredded This will be the bed for our delicious bake.
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped For that aromatic sweetness.

  • 1 can (14 oz) diced tomatoes Adds moisture and a hint of acidity.

Meat

  • 1 pound ground beef Delivers rich flavor and protein.

Spices

  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano A sprinkle of earthiness to enhance the flavor.
  • Salt and pepper To taste.

Optional Toppings

  • 1 cup shredded cheese For a delicious, gooey topping (optional).

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • In a large skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef, breaking it apart with a spatula.
  • Once the beef is cooked, add the chopped onion and minced garlic, and cook until tender and fragrant, about 3-4 minutes.
  • Stir in the canned diced tomatoes, oregano, salt, and pepper, letting it simmer for 5-10 minutes.
  • In a large baking dish, layer half the shredded cabbage at the bottom, then pour half of the beef mixture over the cabbage.
  • Repeat the layers with the remaining cabbage and beef, and sprinkle cheese on top if using.
  • Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake for 30 minutes. Then remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes.
  • Let it cool slightly before serving.

Notes

Leftovers store beautifully in the fridge for up to three days or can be frozen for longer storage. For extra flavor, consider adding leftover vegetables or grains.
