Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Wash and core the apples, leaving the bottoms intact.
  • In a bowl, mix together brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and nuts. Add vanilla extract.

Baking

  • Stuff each apple generously with the filling.
  • Top each apple with a small pat of butter.
  • Place apples in a baking dish and pour 1/4 cup water in the bottom.
  • Bake for 20-25 minutes, until tender.
