Main ingredients

  • 1 pound large shrimp (peeled and deveined) Fresh shrimp adds a sweet, briny flavor; frozen shrimp works too—just thaw before cooking.
  • 8 ounces linguine or spaghetti Perfect for soaking up the delicious sauce. Substitute with gluten-free pasta for a lighter option.
  • 4 cloves garlic (minced) Essential for that irresistible aroma.
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter For richness; use olive oil for a lighter fare if you prefer.
  • 1/4 cup fresh lemon juice Freshly squeezed works best for zesty brightness.
  • 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes For a touch of heat; adjust according to your spice tolerance.
  • to taste Salt and pepper Essential seasonings for enhancing the flavors.
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley (chopped) For a vibrant garnish and fresh herbal notes.

Instructions

Cooking the Pasta

  • In a large pot, bring salted water to a boil. Add your linguine or spaghetti and cook until al dente, according to the package directions. Reserve about 1/2 cup of the pasta water before draining.

Sautéing the Garlic

  • While the pasta cooks, melt the butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the minced garlic, letting it cook for about 1 minute until fragrant, ensuring it doesn’t brown.

Cooking the Shrimp

  • Toss the shrimp into the skillet, seasoning with salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes. Cook for 3-4 minutes until the shrimp turn pink and curl up.

Mixing in Lemon Juice

  • Pour in the fresh lemon juice, allowing it to mingle with the butter and shrimp.

Combining with Pasta

  • Add the drained pasta to the skillet, tossing everything together. If the mixture seems dry, add a splash of the reserved pasta water until you reach your desired consistency.

Finishing Touches

  • Remove from heat and stir in the chopped parsley for that vibrant pop of color.

Serving

  • Transfer to warmed plates and enjoy the comforting aroma of your homemade dish.

Notes

For a creamy twist, add a splash of heavy cream. Toss in spinach or cherry tomatoes for added nutrition. Incorporate lemon zest for additional citrusy flavor. Fresh basil or thyme can replace parsley for a delightful twist.
