  • 4 slices cheese (American, cheddar, or Swiss)
  • burger buns Soft and toasted
  • salt and black pepper For seasoning

Instructions

Preparation

  • In a bowl, gently form the ground beef into equal-sized balls (about 2 oz each). Avoid overworking the meat.
  • Preheat your griddle over medium-high heat until it’s hot enough for a drop of water to sizzle away immediately.

Cooking

  • Place the beef balls on the griddle, spacing them out evenly. Using a heavy spatula, smash each ball down flat. Season with salt and pepper.
  • Let them cook for about 3-4 minutes without moving them until they develop a beautiful crust.
  • Flip the burgers over and immediately place a slice of cheese on each. Let it melt for about 1-2 minutes.
  • Toast the burger buns cut side down on the griddle until golden and crispy.
  • Assemble the burgers with your choice of toppings and serve hot.

Notes
