Preparation

  • Gather all the ingredients and tools.
  • In a large mixing bowl, beat the unsalted butter on medium speed until it’s creamy and pale in color—about 2 minutes.
  • Pour in the vanilla extract and add that pinch of salt. Blend again until well combined.
  • Gradually add the powdered sugar, one cup at a time. Mix on low speed to avoid a sugary cloud until it’s well incorporated.
  • Add heavy cream, one tablespoon at a time, until you achieve the desired spreadable consistency. Beat continuously for another minute until fluffy.
  • Taste the frosting and adjust sweetness or add extra cream as needed.
  • Frost your cookies or any other delightful dessert!

Notes

For a healthier option, replace butter with coconut oil or dairy-free margarine. You can also make this frosting ahead of time and store it in the refrigerator.
