Ingredients
  

Main Ingredients

  • 2 cups water For brewing the spices and tea.
  • 2 tablespoons black tea Can use tea bags.
  • 1 cup milk Any type: dairy, almond, oat, or soy.
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract Substitute with vanilla bean for a richer flavor.
  • to taste sweetener Honey, maple syrup, or sugar.
  • optional whipped cream For serving, topped with nutmeg or cinnamon.

Chai Spices

  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon cardamom
  • 1 teaspoon ginger Freshly grated or ground.
  • 1 teaspoon cloves Whole or ground.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • In a small saucepan, combine 1 cup of water with your chai spices. If using whole spices, crush them slightly to release their flavors.
  • Bring the mixture to a boil. Once boiling, reduce the heat, and add 2 tablespoons of black tea. Allow this to steep for 4-5 minutes.
  • Pour in 1 cup of your chosen milk and stir gently. Let it heat through but don’t let it boil.
  • Remove from heat and stir in 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract and sweetener to taste.
  • For a frothy finish, whisk the mixture vigorously or use a frother to incorporate air.
  • Pour your Vanilla Chai Latte into your favorite mug, add a dollop of whipped cream on top, and sprinkle with nutmeg if desired.

Notes

Experiment with different spices like star anise or nutmeg for a unique flavor. Store any leftover chai in the fridge for up to three days. Reheat gently before serving.
